Gennady Vasilyevich Novitsky
Gennady V.Novitsky was born in 1949 in Mogilev. Belarusian. In 1971, he graduated from the Belarusian Polytechnical Institute, in 1988 - from the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He is a civil engineer. Gennady Novitsky started his labour activity in 1971 at Mogilev Construction Trust No. 12 as foreman, where he worked afterwards as head of section, chief engineer. 1977 - 1981 - instructor of the construction division in Mogilev Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus (CPB).From 1981 through 1985 - chief engineer of Mogilev Regional Interfarm Construction Agency. In 1985 - 1988, he worked as head of the construction division in Mogilev Regional Committee of the CPB, and from 1988 to 1994 - as chairman of Mogilev Regional Board for Agricultural Construction. In 1994, Gennady Novitsky was appointed as Minister for Architecture and Construction of the Republic of Belarus, and in 1997 he took up the post of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

On 1 October 2001, he was designated as Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

 

On 10 October 2001, by Ordinance of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 572 and with the consent of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Gennady Novitsky was appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.
