Margarian became the Prime
Minister of the Republic of Armenia on May 12, 2000.
"Among the numerous Government activities falls the development of the economy of the RA. The improvement and growth of the economy will guarantee the realization of the most important principle, which is ensuring a healthy and normal life for the citizens of the RA. As a Government we commit ourselves to act based on the principles of human rights and preserve national dignity."

1992: Chairman of the Republican Party of the RA, Member of the Republican Party of the RA, Member of Board of the Republican Party, RA. Since 1965 he has been involved in political activities. Since 1968 he has been member of underground National United party. In 1974 he was sentenced to 2-year imprisonment for political activities.
1972-1990: Yerevan Section of Gas Industry All-Union Research Institute, Institute of Power Engineering, Computing Center of the Trade Ministry, State Office of Special Programs
Parents come from Western Armenia (Moush). He has two brothers and two sisters. Married in 1973, he has two daughters and one son. He has four grandchildren.
He believes in God. He considers that non-believers are the most dangerous people.
