Edward Bishop is a shareholder with the firm and has been practicing intellectual property law since 1994. Mr. Bishop’s practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, including pre-trial litigation, domestic and foreign patent protection, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing, and counseling.

As a full service intellectual property attorney, Mr. Bishop has significant pre-trial litigation experience in patent, antitrust, copyright, trademark, and trade dress cases. He has been involved with all related pre-trial aspects of these cases such as discovery and discovery motions, as well as the preparation of motions covering a wide range of other issues.

As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Bishop’s experience in obtaining patent protection for inventors includes preparation of patent applications in the electrical, software, mechanical, and financial arts. More specifically, Mr. Bishop has prepared patent applications related to: financial products, business methods, e-commerce, internet, computer software, control systems, telephone equipment, surgical devices, laser systems, optoelectronic devices, digital interface systems, sub-micro CMOS devices, electrical phase systems, disk drive storage systems, RF test equipment, electrical ballasts, electrical connectors, and gear assemblies. In addition, Mr. Bishop has experience with appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and with reexamination proceedings.

During law school, Mr. Bishop served as a Judicial Extern for then Magistrate Judge Guzman in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. There, he assisted Judge Guzman in the preparation of several decisions.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Bishop worked as an electrical engineer for over seven years. His work experience includes evaluating electrical designs for satellite communication and control systems for Honeywell Satellite Systems (1988-91), land-air communications networks for Motorola (1987-88), and aircraft systems for Boeing (1984-87).
